1)

Жизнь коротка – любовь зато вечна;

                       ***

O Swallow, Swallow, flying, flying South,
   Fly to her, and fall upon her gilded eaves,
    And tell her, tell her, what I tell to thee.

O tell her, Swallow, thou that knowest each,
    That bright and fierce and fickle is the South,
    And dark and true and tender is the North.

O Swallow, Swallow, if I could follow, and light
    Upon her lattice, I would pipe and trill,
    And cheep and twitter twenty million loves.

O were I thou that she might take me in,
  And lay me on her bosom, and her heart
  Would rock the snowy cradle till I died.

Why lingereth she to clothe her heart with love,
  Delaying as the tender ash delays
  To clothe herself, when all the woods are green?

O tell her, Swallow, that thy brood is flown:
  Say to her, I do but wanton in the South,
  But in the North long since my nest is made.

O tell her, brief is life but love is long,
  And brief the sun of summer in the North,
  And brief the moon of beauty in the South.

O Swallow, flying from the golden woods,
  Fly to her, and pipe and woo her, and make her mine,
  And tell her, tell her, that I follow thee.

2)
Ты ни о чём не вопрошай меня;
Опасны взоры, полные огня;

                        ***

  Ask me no more: the moon may draw the sea;
        The cloud may stoop from heaven and take the shape,
        With fold to fold, of mountain or of cape;
    But O too fond, when have I answer'd thee?
            Ask me no more.

    Ask me no more: what answer should I give?
        I love not hollow cheek or faded eye:
        Yet, O my friend, I will not have thee die!
    Ask me no more, lest I should bid thee live;
          Ask me no more.

  Ask me no more: thy fate and mine are seal'd:
      I strove against the stream and all in vain:
      Let the great river take me to the main:
  No more, dear love, for at a touch I yield;
        Ask me no more.

3)

Дрожу. Былое тает в час заветный;

Такое утро – многому начало;

                             ***

...And let thy nature strike on mine,

Like yonder morning on the blind half-world;

Approach and fear not; breath upon my brows;

In that fine air I tremble, all the past

Melts mist-like into this bright hour, and this

Is morn to more, and all the rich to-come

Reels as the golden Autumn woodland reels

Athwart the smoke of burning weeds...

4)

                          ***

...Till out of long frustration of her care,
And pensive tendance in the all weary noons,
And watches in the dead, the dark, when clocks
Throbb’d thunder thro’ the palace floors, or call’d
On flying Time from all their silver tongues –
And out of memories of her kindlier days,
And sidelong glances at my father’s grief,
And at the happy lovers heart in heart –
And out of hauntings of my spoken love,
And lonely listenings to my mutter’d dream,
And often feeling of the helpless hands,
And wordless broodings on the wasted check –
From all a closer interest flourish’d up,
Tenderness touch by touch, and last, to these,
Love, like an Alpine harebell hung with tears
By some cold morning glacier; frail at first
And feeble, all unconscious of itself,
But such as gather’d colour day by day...
